The Muladhara Chakra, or Root Chakra, is the first of the seven main chakras, located at the base of the spine. Its name comes from the Sanskrit words mula (root) and adhara (support), reflecting its core purpose: anchoring us in feelings of safety, stability, and belonging. Associated with the earth element and the color red, it governs our most primal needs: survival, security, and trust in life itself. A balanced Muladhara brings groundedness and calm; when blocked, fear and anxiety tend to arise.
Developed during womb stage through one year old, and it can be represented by the red color and the earth element
Enhances: stability, commitment and grounding
Sits at the base of your tailbone and is the center of stability. It is the primary point of balance between below and the above.
When is overactive: dominant behavior, aggressiveness, overeating
When is under active: scarcity, insecurity, fear and under-eating
When is balanced: abundance, safety, security
