Ajna Chakra – Third Eye Chakra

The Ajna Chakra, or Third Eye Chakra, is the sixth of the seven main chakras, located at the center of the forehead, between the eyebrows. Its name comes from the Sanskrit word ajna, meaning “perceive” or “command,” reflecting its role as the seat of intuition, inner wisdom, and higher perception. Associated with light and the color indigo, it governs insight, clarity of mind, and our ability to see beyond the surface of things. A balanced Ajna brings sharp intuition, mental clarity, and a deep trust in one’s inner guidance; when blocked, feelings of confusion, self-doubt, or disconnection from one’s inner knowing tend to emerge.

Developed in your early teens

Represented by the indigo color and the light element, it is located between your eyebrows

Enhances: rational and logical thought with intuitive non-linear thought

Also know as the mind’s eye and this chakra corresponds to your spiritual nature. When is open expands your state of awareness, you see the world in full, vibrant color and all your senses are available as a source for your information.

When is overactive: hallucination, intuitive abilities based on ego
When is under active: disbelief or disconnection from spiritual nature, unwise, unfocused
When is in balance: insight, widsom, inspiration and intuition

How to work with this Chakra?

Every Chakra has its particularity, and one of the ways to work with the material that we are offering here is with a centering meditation followed by journaling prompts. Here area few examples to journal about:

Do I consider myself intuitive? Why or why not?
How do I most often experience my intuition? Does it come in the form of a gut feeling, a voice in my head, signs and synchronicities, or something different?
Do I trust myself to make good decisions? Do I make decisions based on what’s logical or what feels right? Is there a healthy balance between the two?
How do I react to major life changes? Do I embrace change, or do I resist change?
What does it mean to me to surrender? How can I practice more surrender and trust in my daily life?
Do I feel safe surrendering, or do I have a difficult time letting go of control?
